It’s 2009, scary, but there’s some really, really, REALLY, good music
out there right now if you know where to look….

la-dolce-vita-300x2002 Let’s start with La Dolce Vita! Two young talented producers who are currently based in Chicago do some fun remixes of a Prodigy tune and a Yelle tune that are both amazing! They are must hears! Click here to have a listen!

rexthedog1Another artist I’m really into right now is Rex The Dog: Jake Williams started under the name JX which was a British dance project. He gained success in 93 when he struck a deal with a UK dance record label. He’s provided plenty of good remixes and solo work ever since, check his stuff out here!

and here…

yelle1Yelle is someone we should all know about! Yelle, Tepr, and Grandmarnier make up the trio and they’re perfect for each other! With Tepr’s killer hooks and Grandmarnier’s catchy dance beats it’s almost impossible not to fall in love with the music. Then you add Julie Budet’s cute little french voice to the mix and it just completes the sound! Probably one of the best ACDG remixes yet!

familjen021

Another band I just recently discovered: Familjen, alias of Swedish techno/electropop artist Johan T Karlsson. All his lyrics are Swedish and he’s got a pretty cool sound. Don’t freak out about it being in Swedish! You’ll get over that after you hear the beats! Semi Postal Service with a little bit of Rex The Dog or Tepr thrown in there. It’s really fun to listen to! Check it out here!

05-the_knife1If you haven’t heard of The Knife by now :-/ You need to click on the links immediately! These siblings, also hailing from Sweden, send spooky addictive sounds through your speakers that’ll keep you wanting more of The Knife! It’s electronic music at it’s best! With Olof’s sound and Karen’s distorted vocal chords; The Knife produces a sound that is unique and one of a kind!

Let’s find out what the big deal is…

This one’s really good as well…

GRAWR!!!

GRAWR!!!

Reality T.V. has hit a high mark with RuPaul’s new series on Logo. As I’m sure you can guess, RuPaul’s Drag Race is about a group of “ladies” who are attempting to become the next big Superstar Drag Queen! Superstar was a title used quite frequently in RuPaul’s Club Kid days, he must be giving Michael Alig (my love)  a nod. Santino Rice is featured as a judge along with the noted Bob Mackie.

So far the contestants have had to create a drag outfit with items from a dollar store, split into two separate teams and perform Destiny’s Child acts (probably one of the funniest/most awkward things ever), and they’ve had to channel their inner Oprah’s.

This show combines aspects of Project Runway and ANTM (if you don’t know what that stands for you’re not watching enough television).  Photo shoot, special challenge, and then the “main show.” I don’t want to ruin too much but let’s just say it’s not over until the drag queen lip-synchs. Monday nights on Logo.
